Our Programs
In the Philippines
Several programs in the Philippines have been ongoing since 1979, and are currently being managed by a group of university-educated graduates of IAT's Sponsorship and Youth Development and Leadership programs.
Programs include:
- child sponsorship
- community economic development
- women's empowerment training
- community-based health care
- organic farming
- reforestation projects
- primary education and daycares
- youth training and development
In Canada:
IAT's Canadian Program bridges the gap between developed and underdeveloped countries by connecting Canadian Students and teachers with those in the Philippines and Costa Rica. Youth committed to making positive change are provided with opportunities to take part in IAT's projects abroad.
In cooperation with Canadian Universities, IAT offers co-op program students the chance to gain practical overseas experience through volunteering with IAT's Philippines and Costa Rica programs. Several students have taken advantage of this opportunity during the past two years.
IAT's Child Sponsorship Program gives compassionate people the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children.
In Costa Rica:
IAT intends to create an Eco-Community and Global Youth Training and Development Centre on 200 acres of farmland and rain forest in Socorro, near the west coast of Costa Rica.
Program Objectives:
- To establish an Eco-village and Global Youth Training and Development Centre at Socorro, Costa Rica;
- To offer short term cross-cultural experience (six to ten months) and residential environmental and leadership training to youth;
- To initiate small social and environmental community projects in response to local requests as a way to introduce youth to community development;
- To encourage youth to initiate or contribute to positive change in their countries of origin and to support youth in such efforts through a communications network maintained by the program;
- To link the youth training in the Costa Rican with youth training in Canada and the Philippines.
