Canadian Programs
IAT's Gobal Education Program bridges the gap between
developed and underdeveloped countries through public education of global issues,
and by connecting Canadian students and teachers with those in the Philippines and
Costa Rica:
Many young volunteers, over the years, have traveled
to the Philippines and Costa Rica to take part in IAT's projects.
Several co-op students from the University of Victoria and Simon Fraser University
have volunteered to work with IAT's program in the Philippines. They conducted and
documented their research on various aspects of the Kalinga tribes people.
Students with various talents and skills and an adventurous spirit are always welcome.
Recent Activities: IAT recently shipped twenty boxes
of medical supplies, books and donated computers to projects in the Philippines.
Several more are currently being packed to be sent out.
2009: Canadian volunteers, David Durrance, Ron Wilson,
Kate Vigneault, Gordon Walford and Garry and Cathy Carroll and their daughter Naomi,
volunteered, during January through April, furthering the Costa Rica initiative.
Fruit trees were pruned and fertilized, an agro-forest nursery constructed, vegetable
garden established, solar water heating system installed, animal barn renovated and
partially reroofed, and a great start made on the construction of a dormitory and
training facility for volunteers and student groups.

IAT has strong links with Canadian First Nations people as well as with Indigenous
communities in the Philippines and Costa Rica.
